As we all walk through life, there are definite moments when you know God is reveling Himself to you in a special and unique way.  I experienced this recently when I was waiting at the doctor’s office.  I’ve been doing a LOT of that lately.  To keep myself occupied while I was waiting, I checked work emails, looked at the latest postings on Facebook, etc.  The “elevator” music that was playing seemed familiar.  As I listen more closely I realized that the song that was playing softly was the old Fanny Jane Crosby hymn “He Hideth My Soul / What a Wonderful Savior.”  The piano rendition of this hymn brought tears to my eyes and a smile on my face as I went over the lyrics in my mind.  The phrase in the chorus warmed my heart – “He hideth my life in the depths of His Love, and covers me there with His hand.”  Wow!  I needed to be reminded that even when I was feeling a little anxious God has me in the depths of His love!   Thank you, God, for the reminder!

Here are the words to the hymn (enjoy the Old English).  As you read them think about how much God loves you.  No matter what you are going through, God has you covered by His mighty, loving hands.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And, filled with His fulness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God,
For such a Redeemer as mine!

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.
